Outside my window.......
Everything is a brown, orange, yellow or red. My burning bush is in full flames, and there is still one lone sunflower left that refuses to bow to the wind.
I am thinking.......
About many, many things. Good and bad, fair and unfair, too much to go into.
I am thankful for.....
My children, and the good people in their lives. :)
From the kitchen......
Made a big decision today. I'm going to be the mean mom and force the kids to eat their suppers. Used to be that there were one or two meals that one or the other wouldn't eat and I'd make sandwiches for them. Now its turning into both kids and just about every meal that isn't breakfast, pizza or spaghetti. Had enough. Going to do better at the cooking/preparing thing this week, kind of went off the rails last week and ate out way too much!
I am wearing.......
Roots T and yoga pants. Typically lazy Sunday laundry day wear!
I am creating......
Not a heck of a lot right now. I finished the blank wedding album for my friend, I've got some Xmas gift tags that I started that I will finish before Xmas-that's about all I have time for right now.
I am going......
to school tomorrow after I make supper in the AM and get the cats some food!
I am reading.......
Chemistry, which is why I am on here!
I am hearing.......
The clunking of the dryer-jeans are in there and the buttons are clinking on the drum.
Around the house......
Got lots done today. The place needs a good dusting though, and I still have to get my summer clothes in storage.
One of my favourite things.......
Driving around on a sunny NS day in the fall, which is why I ditched my studies at the first sign of a blue sky and took the kids out. It has been raining almost every weekend here for a good month or so, so it was nice to go for a drive and see the leaves. It was gorgeous, and of course I forgot my camera!
Plans for the rest of the week.......
Schoolwork, I've got a midterm on Thursday in a course I'm not confident in so I've got a lot of work to do. Carving pumpkins with the kids on Friday, then trick or treating on Saturday. Been invited to a party on Saturday, but may skip it to cuddle on the couch with the kids to watch a pseudo-scary movie, then watch Rocky Horror Picture Show after they go to bed.

Some Wildlife Spottings
So far this week we have seen in the wild:
Deer in downtown Bedford
A cougar on our drive home (no, it wasn't me dressed up for a night out either, it was a real one!)
A partridge in our backyard
A hawk in our backyard
Eagles on the drive to school
Foxes during another drive.
Couple of weeks ago there was a small whale in the harbor too. I got some pics, but it was with the film camera, so who knows when you'll see them?
I heard the cry of a fox the other night, I was glad to hear it. I haven't seen them in a while and I was worried that someone had poisoned them. They were pretty plentiful this time last year. I haven't seen one yet, but I probably will soon!

Some Work today
Well, I pulled my nose out of my books long enough to do some yardwork today. I planted some bulbs in the backyard, some in the frontyard and moved my current perennials to a new bed. I've got an order in at Vesey's for a complete perennial collection that is the perfect size for the now-empty bed, and I ordered some tulips bulbs for the same one also. We had to get some cleaning up done in the veggie garden also-I've been neglecting it a lot lately. I dug out the potatoes, tomatoes and peppers. I pulled out the herbs too, they had gone to flower and weren't tasting too good. My jalepenos weren't spicy, which was a real disappointment as they grew really well! Anyone know what might cause that?
I know, I've got to get my thoughts about school on here, but it's just so much! It's easier to just do little bits here and there. I'll say one thing though: Spoon-fed. The kids I go to school with expect to be handed everything on a silver platter, and the profs/school does it. So much different than the first time I headed off to post-secondary school!

Too Long
Shawn has been gone too long. I almost jumped (humped???) a poor guy in Staples today. He smelled really yummy. And he was handsome in a rugged, blue-collar sort of way. I had to walk away-fast!
Saw another really handsome man at school today. He smiled at me and asked me how I was doing. I almost followed him to his office and showed him! LOL!!!!
Only a week until Shawn is home!
The good thing is that none of the male students I see on a daily basis have any kind of appeal to me. They all look really young. I was afraid I'd turn into a cougar or something!

Hump Day
Well, I made it over hump day. This has been the longest, most tiring 3 days I have had in a long time! I am exhausted! I'm glad I made it over this day though, it is my longest by far. It's all about sliding into the weekend from here!
There's so much to blog about, I'm going to see if I can get back on here later to fill you all in on my first week so far!

It must be a record.
Three days into the new school year and I'm sick. Woke up this AM feeling like I hadn't slept a wink, with a headache, slimy/sore throat and swollen glands. Just in time for my orientation at school tomorrow! Time to pop some ColdFX methinks!
Spent the day so far cleaning out my flower beds, then sitting on the step harvesting coneflower and sunflower seeds for next season. Have I mentioned how much I love fall yet today?

So sick of the c-word
I am so sick of hearing about cancer. This past year everytime I turn around there is a friend or a family member being affected by it. This past month I have seen a family friend pass away from lung cancer at the young age of 31-it started off as colon cancer. Colon cancer! In a 30-year old! This past week an acquitance of mine (we belong to the same online parenting community and exchange messages back and forth once in a while) found out that her 6 year old son has neuroblastoma, a type of cancer common in young children. Six years old. There's just nothing right about that at all. As a mom I can't imagine going through something like this with my child.
My uncle spent the last year being treated for Prostate cancer, luckily his last tests all came back negative, so we are all relieved. My aunt went through treatment for breast cancer two years ago. Plus numerous friends have been affected by cancer. They've lost parents, had hysterectomies due to abnormal cells, etc. It is just such a horrible thing to go through, they can't find a cure fast enough in my opinion. Don't forget to donate to your local cancer charities, or to the Canadian Cancer Society.
